Vladimir Soloviev’s Sorrento

Abstract

The Russian philosopher Vladimir Soloviev visited the Italian town of Sorrento (near Naples) during a big European trip of 1875-1876. It is in Sorrento, in the hotel “Cocumella”, that Soloviev had written (in French) the treatise “Sofia”, started in Egypt, which for the first time outlined his grand philosophical concept. The author investigates the circumstances of Vladimir Soloviev’s stay in Sorrento based on a large amount of factual material.
