China's Modernisation and its Lessons for Russia

The article suggests a brief history of China's modernisation in the 20^th and beginning of 21^st century. The author reveals the specificity of the modernisation associated with the ratio of old and new, experience of everyday life of people, and regional projects. The author holds that political modernisation and mobilisation of masses are less important in the modernisation of China. Flaws of Russian modernisation today in comparison with the Chinese experience are characterized by weakness of modernisation prerequisites in everyday life, lack of region-specific projects of modernisation, and prevalence of political modernisation over economic and scientific-technical modernisation.
