Abstract
The aim of the paper is to elucidate the meaning of the fragment (12rM) of Giordano Bruno’s tract On magic (1589-1590), where a thesis about a global se-miotic transformation that once occurred in history is postulated. According to it, that transformation consisted in supplanting hieroglyphic writing by an alphabetic script and had extremely harmful cognitive and cultural consequences for humankind. The philosophical sources in which key ideas grounding this thesis originate are found out. The author also explores Bruno’s historiosophical views and analyzes his interpretation of an image of ancient Egypt and of the essence of hieroglyphics developed in his works. It is argued that this interpretation significantly differed from the version dominating in the humanistic circles in the end of the 15th - first half of the 17th centuries.

Abstract
The process of emergence of plastic value in art is considered in the article: the plastic value is not born as a result of copying reality, but it is generated by a spirit, which in life-like plastic images returns to itself. Plastic art values were created only by those Soviet artists who, like M. Nesterov and A. Platonov, found the true plot of the reality. On the contrary, an attempt to deceive the logic of reality destroyed images of art, despite their external credibility and plasticity (L. Leonov).
